Twilight fights for her friends(hip)!

Being a big fan of Fire Emblem, when I heard the above during S2E2, I just knew I had to do this. Four hours later and this is the result. For anyone who hasn't played Smash Bros. Brawl, Ike says "I fight for my friends" as a victory quote.

This pose is surprisingly hard to get looking right. But it was totally worth fighting with. I gave Twilight Ike's bandana, cape and shoulder guard (although it looks more metallic than leathery...), as well as Ragnell. Despite Twi standing still, the mysterious dramatic wind made this feel really dynamic and a blast to shade. I think this is the hardest I've ever worked my 2B. Like with my last Twi drawing, minor mistakes, but overall I'm quite happy with it.

Hehe, now you're making me picture her using a combination of telekinesis and teleporting to do an Aether against a full plate wearing Nightmare Moon. :P

ACTION TWI IS GO!

I really really love the changing shade values used across her entire body, it's just subtle enough to be effective without being gaudy like I see on a lot of artists' works.

It's especially evident in the mane, tail and cape thing, where I think you did the best.

I also notice a marked difference in anatomy from what I remember being your usual, did you try something different? Maybe it's just the different shading, but it's all these minor little details that make her look very pony–like.

Also, nice detailing on the irises. =D That's really awesome, and something I don't think I've seen before.

I think it's a combination of me finally getting the hang of the direction I want my strokes to go when shading away from edges, as well as keeping her pose more show accurate. Since I was having a bit of trouble getting the pose to work, I copied the proportions from a reference, so since my usual style adds a bit more length to the body, she probably looks a little stubbier than usual. But yea, other than that, I guess it's just my strokes being in the right places to give her proper volume and shape.

I've actually been doing the more detailed irises since my confused Pinkie portrait ([link]), which is actually only 2 shaded drawings ago, so I guess still not for long. On the other hand, the shine on the hair is something I haven't done before (well, except once a really long time ago for my ponysona).

And thanks! :D
